I'm excited. Soon is ZHOP's Camp David - where teenagers sit before God for hours a day in the prayer room for the month of July. The idea of pouring into kids lives for a month watching them grabbing a spirit of prayer truly excites me and makes me remember why i am doing what i am doing here.
I love teenagers. I loved being one. I love their drama. I love the way they involve the word "like" atleast 4-5 (maybe 10) times per sentence. I love listening to them figure out who God is and who they are in the midst of that. I love their zeal. I love the late nights and the pizza. I love the way they absorb anything and everything around them.
Maybe I won't be saying this in the midst of very late nights and drama in the hot month of July - but maybe not.
I used to be a Young Life leader during college. I spent most of my college days fumbling around wondering who I was and dragging high school kids into my own questions about God and search for Him. At least 2 times a week I would go into the high school lunchroom and sit down at tables full of highschoolers wondering why the heck i was there. Most of the time I wondered too...It wasn't exactly seasoned ministry - but I saw in the midst of those years God do so many things in my life as well as the lives of those kids around me.
So - I'm excited and praying that God would bring the pizza-consuming-likelikelike-zealous-dramatic teenagers into the prayer room. The end.
