i went to see feist

well we went to see the fabulous feist this past weekend like i had mentioned in the last post.
It was a great concert and a great day. beautiful weather, "great shadow slideshow" (she had an overhead projector in the back and two girls doing art behind her on it while she played - i loooved it), her voice sounded amazing, songs were well played and fun, and i loved the way she made interacting with a 1,000 people seem like she was intimately talking with 5.
I had a great time with my lovely friends (minus michelle) shopping around the plaza and eating at wonderful places like First Watch and P.F. Changs (ummm...veggie lettuce wraps).
It was interesting not having Michelle there with us because she adds so much to any group she is in like I mentioned. But I found myself in her absence doing things like taking charge and inconveniencing people - for instance, like finding seats in the middle of a very crowded church for the 4 of us. So maybe I don't need to practice inconveniencing people - the basics of group dynamics and my personality colliding is a very interesting and diverse thing. Anyway...

As I write I am sitting here in KCI waiting for my flight to board.
Last night my friend Arin and I went to the Sigur Ros concert here in kansas city. A little preview of Iceland. :) I wasn't sure what to expect, I know their music but it's so different... but the concert blew any notions away. that falsetto voice, the bowed guitar, the drums, the string quartette and all the brass...and we had good seats. great. great. grand. I think at one point I cried (in a good way). I would post some pictures but i didn't bring my camera plug in. boo. that means no pictures until i come back.
Today Arin and I went to ihop-kc. That too was great. He got some prayer and i just sat in my chair and listened to a Misty devotional and meditated on some Proverbs. I got some where with it, maybe abstract at the moment and more questions...but more on that later.
My stomach is turning, i'm not sure reasoning. the only thing i can come up with is my head is in a lot of different places. the past two days underneath the surface i can feel waves of emotions and desires, agendas, uncertainties, and wonderings. I think it will be good for me to spend some more time surfacing those in the best place i can think of: before God in the prayer room.
mkay, all for now. i'm going to start reading and try and make this stomach ache subside by quieting my brain.

the letter that affected the wedding singer

Well, Kesha's pictures have been unveiled. They are beautiful - of course - it was a beautiful wedding. I may post some more up later (though i always feel weird doing that because it's sort of the bride's territory, not mine to be posting all over the world wide web) but I thought I would start off this post with me as the Wedding Singer.
Because, well, I have been known to sing a diddy or two in a teary-eyed wedding moment.
And speaking on the topic of weddingish things-- today I got one of the most meaningful letters I have ever been given. I will leave it's author's identity concealed except to say it was from someone who's family has played a big part in my life in the past 2 years. In it she explained a lot of personal life experiences - mostly about her life as a twenty something wondering how it was all going to unfold. Particularly how her love life was going to unfold... (Which by the way is a question I have felt a little weird about admitting that I have been asking. But you all know it's true.) As I read, It was beyond encouraging to listen to the stories. They made me feel loved and understood. And so privileged to know someone with a wealth of wisdom would take the time to type out 6 pages of her life and the lessons it has held. It's one of those things I'm going to hold on to for the rest of my life.

Taking others on our journeys with us is so vital. I need to do more of that. Le sigh...I love how life can be so personal sometimes. Kindaaa like a good wedding song. haha. okay okay I couldn't help but try and tie it all in. Even if it was cheeseball.

a night at the evening muse

Well friends it's an amazing 72 degrees here in the lovely Fort Mill/Charlotte area. The wind is blowing, I can hear it through my window and it sounds like sleep. Still no rain, but even still, lovely.
Tonight I went to the Evening Muse and saw my friend Katie Herzig play. It was purrrfect. Very mellow, very intimate. The kind of live music that makes you close your eyes and remmeber to be thankful for your ears. Please give her a listen.

A+ nights and angst

This past Friday night I went to see Mute Math and Eisley play here in Charlotte. If I had to give it all a grade - it was an A+ night - good in-your-face-indie-meets-rock-n-roll music, lovely conversations, amazing greek food and okay coffee, and nice foggy weather that made Uptown look like Gotham City.

On a different note - I miss Springfield. I miss people. Certain people very much, and my family too. This has been quite a conundrum in my life for the past year. It makes me feel all angsty inside thinking about it.
