Internships

in.tern
noun : a student or trainee who works, sometimes without pay, at a trade or occupation in order to gain work experience.

Tonight the interns that have been here for 5 months graduate. I for one am very sad to see them go. They are quality. However, I think most of them are returning to be on staff. (amazing)
So this makes me think of all the internships I did in the past - I'm pretty much an intern pro... None of them were as cool as what they have done here @ ZHOP. However I think you may find them interesting.

Here is a recap of my past internships, in no order.
1. Young Life Summer Staff - worked in the bookstore for a month. it was okay. pretty mountains there.
2. Young Life Trail Guide - this was sweet, almost as sweet as the ZHOP internship but not quite. For this I took high school students on adventure tours that included mountain biking, rock climbing, white water rafting, peak climbing, and caving. We mixed Jesus into every moment we could with the kids, got them to tell their life stories - it was the definition of cumbya (sp?).
3. Church Staff Intern - I interned at a little Assemblies of God church in Steamboat Springs, CO for a summer. It was my internship for my Psychology major. For this I had to lead a class on substance abuse for the community, help with the kido program, and the craziest thing: I (ME) taught a class on marriage. I know, weird right?
4. Camp Guest Services Intern - this was the least glorious internship I have done. The "Guest Services" title made it sound good but really it was just grunt work - I cleaned rooms and was a waitress for 4 months. again, pretty mountains though.

A marriage class?? I've never heard of a single person teaching a marriage class. Most of your internships involved cool mountains too. I would've enjoyed an internship with cool mountains

yeah, they were all in various places in Colorado. They need to make I <3 Colorado t-shirts. I would wear one frequently.

I think you should write "A Dummy's Guide to Internships". I'd buy a copy!
